The Unicorn, Deddington

The magic of the Unicorn lies with landlord Kris and his family. Kris grew up in a farming family in and around Middleton Cheney with farming in his blood. Much of the focus has been with poultry rearing, but also includes a flock of sheep and a herd of cows. There is not much Kris can’t tell you about his livestock.

Kris has given birth to his Farm to Fork concept where the food he cooks and serves is grown, sourced or reared within the local community keeping ‘food miles’ at a minimum, wherever possible.

Sausages and burgers are home-made, gluten-free, and the highest meat content and quality. Potatoes are grown on his family farm. The Dexter beef used is grass reared and finished. The cattle are raised and nurtured for at least 30 months in a ”Mob Grazing Routine” letting nature do its thing.

Where Kris can’t grow or produce his own produce himself he sources ingredients locally. The Asparagus and Rhubarb are grown over the back wall at The Old Manor House!
Kris believes when money is spent in your local community, it is recycled throughout the villages, improving the economy.
