A Day of Different Ideas from Banbury Worth Spreading… …Locally & Globally!
How many of us have watched the infamous TED Talks on TED.com or TEDx Talks on YouTube? One of the most watched is by Sir Ken Robinson, whose talk titled ‘Do Schools Kill Creativity’ has
reached over 63 million views! In July of this year, the viewing figures for this talk alone was 59 million, by November, four (4) more million views were secured! Sir Ken Robinson’s message from

TED, an acronym for Technology, Entertainment & Design, was founded by Richard Wurman, and Harry Marks in 1984. Their objective was to bring fresh ideas from the three different disciplines, and share them freely. TED now hosts an annual conference in Vancouver and has spearheaded many initiatives, including TEDx events. ‘X’ stands for independently voluntary organised local events under licence from TED.
TEDxBanbury, filmed live, will be the first of its kind taking place on 29 February 2020 at St Mary’s Church, Horsefair, Banbury. This non profit sponsored event takes place across 6-7 hours, with a programme of local speakers drawn from different specialisms, and complemented with performing Arts.
Following the TED and TEDx format, the theme for this event is ‘It’s the little things…’, inspired by local author journalist Matthew Teller. Each talk within the speaker programme lasts up to 15

is now a waiting list for speakers of particular disciplines. Equally, the volunteer front of house team is complete for the 2020 event. To provide a broad and balanced programme for the event day,
individuals are also invited to consider joining the speaker programme.
The organising team are currently working with the local college in Banbury, to introduce six students to this high profile aspirational event, as well as a student speaker who will be joining the
line up. There are plans ahead for TEDxBanbury to grow, and nurture a youth element. The event is gaining a following across the TEDxBanbury social media platforms, and with the
support of many key representatives in the Banbury community, including Visit Banbury, Creating Core Change, Pilkington Media Consultants, and No Fluff Communications.
TEDxBanbury has also created a range of attractive Corporate Sponsorship packages, with Headline Sponsor opportunities, which would enable local Banbury companies to promote their
This will inevitably be a most exciting, inspiring and aspirational TED like experience for the town and locality, and one not to be missed!
