Would you like to make friends with an older person in your area?
Unfortunately, there are many older people who have no regular visitors and do not have someone to talk to everyday. This group aims to remedy that for as many people in this area as we can.
The Cornhill Companions is a branch of the Royal Voluntary Service, based at The Cornhill Centre in Banbury. They provide a visiting and telephone befriending service to older, perhaps isolated and lonely, people in Banbury and the surrounding villages.
They are all volunteers.
They have been delivering this service very successfully for almost two years and, as demand for services is increasing, they are looking for new volunteers to join.
If you enjoy meeting new people and have even just a half hour or so free each week, becoming a Cornhill Companion can be very rewarding and enjoyable. You can make a real difference to an older person’s life and well-being.
They are fully insured and there is no need for any previous experience. They provide regular training and there is plenty of support.
