Comedy at The Mill

This Autumn, The Mill will be presenting the cream of the up and coming comedy circuit in a series of regular Comedy Club nights. Each night will feature three stars of the UK comedy scene giving Banbury a chance to get a real taste of a range of diverse comedy styles and talents and guaranteed to exercise your ‘chuckle muscles’.

Friday 27th September features the unique comedy of Alasdair Beckett-King, the sublime Dana Alexander and compered by the improvisational Ben Van der Velde.

As the only black female comedian on the circuit in Canada, Dana Alexander’s comedic style is both refreshing and irreverent, drawing her material from her diverse lifestyle, her gay friends and her crazy Jamaican family. Adept, charming and astute, she is warmly funny with an impishly sarcastic sense of humour. This is a lady not to be missed.

‘Like a gift from the Comedy Gods’ (The Herald)

With comedy tickling stick Tiernan Douieb, rising star Jake Lambert and the Irish charm of Keith Farnan, Friday 8th November promises another night of knock-out comedy.

Jake Lambert fell into a career as a stand-up and it’s proven to be a great choice making it to the final of the Amused Moose Final, semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Award, Magner New Comedian of the Year, English Comedian of the year and the Leicester Mercury Acts of the year. He has gone on to support Sean Walsh, Kerry Godliman, Tom Allen and Rob Beckett on their UK tours as well as writing on Mock The Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats, The Now Show, News Quiz, Bake Off: The Professionals and Bake Off: An Extra Slice.

Just in time for Christmas, there’s a treat for your ‘mince-pies’ with masses of comedy gold from Matt Green, Maisie Adam and Chloe Petts bringing the festive funnies to Banbury on Friday 7th December.

Chloe Petts’ “inexhaustibly funny mind” (Diva Magazine) and “compelling presence” (Steve Bennett, Chortle) have established her as one of the most exciting new acts on the circuit. Chloe is an alumna of the prestigious Pleasance Comedy Reserve, has been shortlisted for the BBC Comedy Award, was a finalist in the most recent Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year Awards and came runner-up in the Funny Women Awards 2017.

All comedy club nights start at 8pm with tickets priced at just £18.

In addition, there are a roster of headline comedians also scheduled to appear at The Mill this Autumn including Fern Brady, Mitch Benn, Carl Hutchinson, Luke Kempner and Mark Thomas.

Of course, there is more than just comedy on offer too, with the usual full programme of music, theatre, dance, family theatre, films and more ensuring something for everyone. For more information, booking and individual performance times visit:
