Banbury hosts the launch of Happerley England

On 5th September the first stage of the Happerley England Tour took place at Primrose Hill Farm Arlescote, Banbury in association with The Kitchen, one of Oxfordshire’s finest country eating houses.

Guests learned about the Happerley England project and enjoyed a very exclusive feast of regional food and drink all sourced from Happerley Gold Standard producers in Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Northants whilst engaging with participating producers who have already joined the movement.

The evening was hosted by Adam Henson the well known T.V presenter, Cotswold farmer and owner of the Cotswold Farm Park who is a member of the Happerley Advisory Board.
Happerley are sourcing, celebrating and championing the best of regional produce, region by region to select England’s finest food and drink produce to showcase at Happerley England, the Country’s first national centre for food and drink provenance opening in Banbury in March 2020.

To qualify producers must be Happerley Gold Standard (able to name the farmers and growers of their core ingredients).

Happerley believe that product provenance needs to be validated at every level of the food chain to improve transparency and traceability thus leading to better informed consumers.

Anthony and Jo Robinson are typical Happerley Gold Standard producers who own and run The Kitchen at Farnborough near Banbury. They are absolutely passionate about provenance and only select, prepare and serve the absolute best food and drink they can source; mainly from local food heroes; some from their own Kitchen garden. Everything is freshly prepared by an amazing chef and his team.

Savvy consumers are increasingly interested in the journey of their food “ from farm to fork ” and are concerned to know about animal welfare, environmental impact, food miles and want peace of mind in respect of quality and sustainability.

The Midlands Co Op which is the largest independent co-operative have supported the Happerley Project since it’s inception and are set to be the first supermarket to empower the consumer to instantly know the provenance of their purchases.

Matthew Rymer the Founder and C.E.O of Happerley said that he was really happy that this first stage of the Happerley tour was such a success and that he was looking forward to taking it around the country over the coming months and to the opening of Happerley England in Banbury next March.
