The Mill Hosts Banbury Literary Live

Banbury community and family literary event returns for its sixth year on 15th September in its new home at The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury town centre. This one day event boasts a fantastic line up of top authors, speakers, performers and workshops.

The whole day’s events are about bringing the community together and igniting a passion for literature. The emphasis is very much on the word ‘live’: performance poets; theatrical performances; cookery demonstrations; science showcase; animators and illustrators; music and dance; as well as authors bringing their books to life through presentations, creative writing workshops or over afternoon tea.

This event is even more accessible to the whole community as it is now located at The Mill Arts Centre in the heart of Banbury. The main event is now also FREE.

This event will still have something for everyone. The main (free) event will run from 12.30pm to 6.30pm.

In addition to the main event, there will also be 2 special shows (ticket only): for kids - Nick Sharratt's Big Draw Along at 11.00am to 12.30pm and for adults - performer Jackie Hagan at 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

There will be dance showcases, music and an arts/crafts fayre along with  author sessions so please arrive and leave at a time to suit yourself throughout the day. Waterstones bookstall will sell the author's books and as well as the bar, there will be a range of delicious foods for sale.

Speakers at the event Miriam Moss - Girl on a Plane “After a summer spent with her family, fifteen-yearold Anna is flying back alone from Bahrain to her boarding school in the UK. But her plane never makes it. The flight is hijacked by Palestinian guerrillas. They force the plane to land in the Jordanian desert, switch off the engines and issue their demands. If these are not met within three days, they will blow up the plane, killing all the hostages. The heat on  board becomes unbearable, food and water supplies dwindle. Time is running out . . .” ‘Girl on a Plane’ is based on the true story of the 1970s hijack of 3 planes – a 15yr old Miriam was on one of them.
